Introduction

Welcome to the PMDO Sky Survey

Introduction

The poor meadow dyke sky survey is an ongoing  project to look at variable stars and asteroids.

Participation is open and contributions both in data analysis and data collection is sought and welcomed.

The Survey

The core of the survey is the archive of images taken around +6 DEC and the photometeric data obtained from them.  This allows variable stars to be monitored, or new variables to be identified and asteroids followed.  Tools are provided to interrogate the archive and retrieve the raw data.

Participation

As the archive  is built up interesting observations come to light.  Inevitably generating both answers and more questions.  There is the opportunity to become involved both in the data analysis and in making higher precision follow up measurements.

Goals

First and foremost is to enjoy the challenge of looking at variable stars.  Also there is the real possibility of making scientifically valuable discoveries (discovering variability in a star,  or observing changes in the behavior of known variables for examples).

This website

Aims to communicate the results from the survey and the methods used to obtain them .  I hope the site will provide an enjoyable read.

The name

The PMDO name comes from an observatory dome at the bottom of my garden.

Asteroid search
On a clear night around 100 asteroids will be capture by the survey camera.

Learn how to track them Here.

Colour Data
When thinking of variable star data colourful would not be the first adjective to spring to mind.  Change all that by using 3 colour analysis.  Examples of coloured asteroid and variable star here and here.
